The Future Fund – backing young New Zealanders to unleash their potential to change the world.
What would New Zealand look like if every young New Zealander unleashed their potential to change the world? The charity Inspiring Stories needs your help to make that a reality.
The Future Fund will be a professionally-managed endowment, which we're kicking off on September 1st with a $1,000,000 fundraising goal. We've run our programmes, that have helped 5,000 young New Zealanders develop their capacity to make a difference, on the smell of an oily rag since 2011. And we're constantly confronted by how much more we could do to back young people's ideas for a better New Zealand if we had more resources to support them.
The returns from the Future Fund will:
1. 30% – Provide scholarship support for more young people from New Zealand's most vulnerable and marginalised communities to participate in programmes like Festival for the Future and Live the Dream, empowering them to lead the change back home. This year through the Festival, we supported 50 scholarship recipients from Kaikohe, to Ruatoria, to Wairoa, to the West Coast. Next year we want to support 100.
2. 30% – Provide seed funding grants to New Zealand's most promising young social entrepreneurs to develop their ventures that will make a difference to our nation.
3. 30% – Provide tailored non-financial support for New Zealand's most promising young social entrepreneurs – such as space to work from, mentoring and advisory, and further professional development opportunities.
4. 10% – Towards the operating costs of Inspiring Stories. As the Future Fund grows, and the support that it will provide to back young New Zealanders increases, so will the level of administration involved.
With your support towards the Future Fund, young New Zealanders will change the world.

Inspiring Stories is a registered New Zealand charity run by 2015 young New Zealander of the Year, Guy Ryan, with a vision to see every young New Zealander unleash their potential to change the world.
Since 2011, 5,000 young people have taken part in programmes and partnerships to build their capacity for change. These include the annual national event, Festival for the Future, attended by 500 18-30 year olds who want fresh inspiration and skills for social change; summer social entrepreneurship accelerator programme Live the Dream (this year run in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch); and the film competition Making a Difference. 2016 will see the introduction of a Future Leaders programme.
The Future Fund comes from a need Inspiring Stories sees to truly back young New Zealanders who want to make a difference. It will enable the charity's programmes to be accessible to more young people from more parts of New Zealand than ever before.
