This is your chance to partner with us to be apart of change!
January 2017 will be my second trip to Bangladesh.
There are two main aims for this trip:
Take a detailed look at all costs and logistics involved in setting up the HUB.
Document and film the current needs of women garment workers, their families and communities.
I will be heading over with photographer and videographer Justin Lovett to connect you with the work that you are being apart of through your support!
Following on from the filming and sourcing/costing trip the focus of the coming year is to begin partnering with local women to set up a sustainable, community led garment manufacturing hub.
This is hugely important because by and large the majority of garment workers are still working in slave like labour- with unfair wages, poor working conditions, widespread abuse and hugely unsustainable practices that harm our planet in an unbelievable capacity.
Bangladesh is the second largest garment manufacturing country in the world with some of the lowest paid wages worldwide. Huge brands like H&M, Gap, Zara and more are manufacturing clothing there and considering the fashion industry generates over a trillion dollars a year it seems outrageous that while we in the west enjoy the luxury of cheap clothing- those who actually make the garments struggle just to put food on the table.
This is where I need your help. This is your invitation.
We will be taking several trips to Bangladesh next year and for this trip need to raise funds to cover flights, accomodation, food for the two of us as well as the cost of childcare while I leave behind my two ratbags in NZ. Any thing that exceeds this amount will go towards further work as we spend next year setting up the manufacturing hub.
We will be keeping details accounts of where funds go for transparency.
SO beautiful people! I would love your support for this trip- whether its $5, $10, $20 or $100, every single little bit helps!
We will be documenting the trip so you can keep up to date with every thing on FB. Feel free to add me to keep up to date. www.facebook.com/amie.b.5
If you’re unaware of the need for change in the fashion and garment industry then I highly recommend watching True Cost on Netflix or Living Wage Now which you can find on youtube.
If you want to check out Justin Lovetts work and some of the filming he did in Bangladesh last year then head to https://vimeo.com/justinlovett
