Auckland
The Waterview Coffee Project is a community run cafe, set up to act as a community hub bringing the community closer together. At the end of 2017, the cafe will celebrate its 5th anniversary.
Only the baristas are paid a wage. The owners donate their time out of pure love. The cafe typically breaks even over the summer months, however relies on fundraising activities to remain open over the winter months.
We need your help to keep the cafe open, and hopefully we'll be able to celebrate many more anniversaries.
The cafe supports the living wage, uses fair trade coffee and organic milk.
The cafe frequently holds community events, such as concerts with local musicians, kids markets, fruit markets, cake stalls, cycle events (Tour De Waterview), kid holiday colouring-in competitions, community announcements, etc.
There are eight volunteer owners of The Waterview Coffee Project. Each winter the owners run fundraising events to cover overheads over the winter months when business is quiet. Typically the owners donate their time and additional financial support to keep the cafe open.
Donated funds will be used to keep the cafe running over the winter months, when business slows, and the cafe struggles to pay suppliers, the taxman, staff, overheads, etc. The owners volunteer their time and resources, and typically top-up the cafe each winter. The Waterview Coffee Project is the heart of the Waterview community
