Thompson Moffatt Family Tree

$190 of $1,050 goal
Given by 5 generous donors in around 6 months

Fundraising for a commerative tree to acknowledge our Thompson Moffat family history in County Offaly.

International

We are fundraising for the planting of a Redwood tree in the grounds of Birr Castle, County Offaly, Ireland. The tree will be part of a 1,000 tree plantation. The tree represents our connection to Ireland, the home of our ancestors. We will each receive a copy of the certificate confirming the exact location of our tree. This will mean any future Thompson and Moffatt family members will be able to visit our tree and know that it will be there for at least another 5,000 years.

There is some irony in this project; our Thompson and Moffatts were tenant farmers of the owner of Birr Castle, the Earl of Rosse. With our tree planted on his estate we will now have a stake in the Earl’s land for some considerable time.

Let’s Do This !

Ps I have donated the 500 Euros for the tree and this is to try and recover some of that cost.

Use of funds

To fund the cost of the sponsored tree. Any funds in excess of the target will be applied to the funding of a remembrance plaque for Margaret Moffatt and a gravesite surround and headstone for Thomas Thompson’s burial plot.
