TIPENE MAANGI: Whakaari Tour Guides final farewell from Whānau

At the young age of 24, Tipene was tragically taken from us during the Whakaari White Island Eruption on 9th December 2019.

He died selflessly while trying to help others.

A much loved Nanny Boy, Son, Brother, Cousin, Uncle & Friend who is deeply missed.

Gone but never forgotten.

Affectionately known by his friends as ‘Koro’, a young man with an old mans soul.

Musically gifted, he always sang & played the guitar like no one was watching. He was the greatest showman and always the life of every party.

Tipene grew up amongst his elders of Te Whānau a Apanui & growing up he was regularly on the Marae or amongst the community with his people.

As we have received many requests from whānau, friends and members of the public to give a Koha/ Donation since his passing.

The whānau would now graciously like to accept any contribution towards Tipene’s Unveiling costs. Including but not limited to Headstone/ Accomodation & Catering Requirements.
