Together for Calib: Supporting Him and His Family Every Step of the Way

Help support 17-year-old Calib as he battles leukaemia for a second time and ease the financial burden on his family. ❤️

Napier, Hawke's Bay

In April 2025, my nephew Calib was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) at just 16. After months of intensive treatment, he finished chemotherapy in October 2025 and worked incredibly hard to get his life back.

He was just three weeks away from graduating high school, had been accepted into university and secured a hall of residence for 2027. Then, on 6 October 2026, we received the heartbreaking news that his leukaemia had returned.

Now 17, Calib faces another battle involving intensive chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant.

His mum has made the difficult decision to resign from teaching to be by his side. With sick leave already used during his first battle, the family faces significant financial pressure, months of travel between Napier and Auckland, lost income and caring for Calib’s seven-year-old brother, Isaac.

As Calib’s aunty, I’ve created this page to help ease the financial burden so his family can focus on what matters most: supporting Calib through treatment and getting him home again.

Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference. If you can’t donate, sharing this page would mean the world to us.

Calib fought so hard to get his future back. Now we’re standing behind him as he fights again. ❤️

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your love and support.

Love, Lexi ❤️

Lexi Murphy's involvement (page creator)

As Calib's aunty, I've set up this page because while we can't take away what Calib and his family are going through, we can hopefully take away some of the financial stress that comes with it.

Use of funds

Donations will help cover travel between Napier and Auckland, accommodation, living costs and lost income while Calib undergoes intensive treatment and a bone marrow transplant, easing financial pressure so his mum, Nicole Blue, step-dad, Hamish Blue, and brother, Isaac, can focus on being by his side.

A little update from us ❤️  20 October 2026

Calib has now finished his first round of chemo, and it was pretty hard out on him. He pretty much slept through most of it. Now comes the long wait for his bone marrow to recover. We're expecting he'll be in hospital for about another 4 weeks for this round.

Mum has been up in Auckland with him, followed by his dad. We are so grateful to both of them for being there so I could come back to Napier, sort a few things out and spend some time at home before heading back up this Thursday. ❤️

We're also waiting to hear whether there's a good bone marrow donor match for Calib. Apparently there's a potential match in America, so everything crossed and please send all the positive vibes our way! 🤞❤️

We still don't know a huge amount about the bone marrow/stem cell transplant side of things, and there's definitely a lot for us to get our heads around. What we do know is that it's going to be another massive challenge for Calib, and he's going to need every bit of strength he's got.

For now, we're just taking things one day at a time.
