Hi Cal, thank you for your question. We work through trusted community partners to make sure support reaches the families who genuinely need it. Our main referral pathways are local Pātaka Kai, foodbanks, and schools across the Hutt Valley, organisations that are already working closely with whānau and have a clear understanding of where the need is.

We also hear directly from families, and we will always do what we can to support them. We don’t judge who is “more” or “less” in need, if a family reaches out, we take that at face value.

Each year, we contact all schools in the Hutt Valley to let them know who we are and how we can help. Schools can (and do) refer students to us, and our community partners pass on requests as well.

By working through these existing networks, the people already supporting our community every day, we’re able to get stationery to the children who need it most, quickly and with dignity.
