Tony passed away recently after a short illness. He was a lifelong educator and to honour his memory the Macknight family is setting up a Postgraduate Student Award for the support of students studying in the Department of Physiology at the University of Otago.

The Lindisfarne College Alumni community were very sad to hear of the passing of A.D.C (Tony) Macknight (53-56). Tony was a Lindisfarne Old Boy (1956 Head Prefect & Dux) and one our 1953 first day pupils.
A great supporter of both the college and the annual Puketapu Hotel Old Boys Lunch.
On behalf of the Lindisfarne community, our thoughts are with the Macknight family.

Dear Michael,
I have just heard of Tony’s sad passing and send my condolences to you and your wider family. I was a first day pupil in 1953 at Lindisfarne College in Hastings, with Tony and we quickly became close friends, keeping in touch ever since! Tony will certainly be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. My thoughts are with you!

My deepest condolences to the Macknight family. I feel honoured to have met and to have had the opportunity to work with Tony. He was an inspirational person and showed incredible passion, drive, and energy for research and education. He will be greatly missed, and never forgotten.
