Troy Cook, is a 48-year old Ōtaki local. He and his partner Aroha Cook have raised and are still raising 5 children ranging in ages from 11 to 32, and have been blessed with two granddaughters, aged 6 and 5-months. Troy and Aroha are childhood sweethearts and come from large Ōtaki & Manakau families, both from local Marae.
He has always been a talented sportsman who has represented significantly in our community of sport codes, league for Whiti Te Ra Sports Club, football for Puru Taitama and was a representative player for Horowhenua Kapiti Touch Rugby.
Troy is a builder by trade and has been a hard working provider up until the beginning of November 2020. This is when he and his whānau had their world turned upside down with Troy’s diagnosis of lung cancer.
I am Troy's niece. He is my mums younger brother.
Money raised will go towards complimentary cancer treatments, day-to-day care, travel to and from hospital visits (150km round trip).
Along with living costs to support Troy & Aroha and their children. This includes housing, utilities, essentials, etc.
