Help Helen Anderson Trust transform our garage into a garden club and creative workshop to take on new projects.
Canterbury
Helen Anderson Trust is a day service which focuses on learning and development for people with an intellectual disability. We hope to have an environmentally friendly space which can be used as a creative work space for our service users to gain skills and take part in new projects. We envision that we will be able to give back to the community through our projects such as the growing of plants/vegetables, woodwork and re purposing furniture to give back to families in our local communities. The environment is important to us and as the garage does not have power we will be looking at environmentally friendly systems ie solar power and battery operated equipment. The people we support have already begun cleaning up our garage but now we need your help to make our workshop dream possible.
The Helen Anderson Trust was formed in 1993 and provides support for adults with intellectual disabilities, enabling people to live good lives by fostering a sense of belonging, independence, personal confidence and life experiences. We work with people to create opportunities participating in the community that reflect personal interests as well as achieving personal goals.
The Helen Anderson Trust facilitates the Duke of Edinburgh’s Hillary and Helen Anderson Trust Believe and Achieve Challenge Awards. The Awards challenge, empower and create a sense of achievement for participants. Through the Award programme people participate in community based activities and overnight camps. The Awards are developed around individual abilities at whatever level providing an achievable challenge.
We hope to use the funds towards work benches, lining the walls, storage cupboards, ensuring the garage is secure and LED lighting as the shed currently has no lighting. Any funds on top of our target will go towards tools and equipment.
