My Brain Tumour has left me with long term effects which has taken away my mobility and therefore my independence
Taranaki
In late 2015 I was diagnosed with a Brain Stem Tumour and also developed meningitis on my brain. I was sent straight in to surgery and from that point on my life was turned upside down. I was left unable to speak and unable to walk with double vision in my right eye. I had to endure 31 radiations and 4 chemo therapies whilst staying in hospital away from my family.
3 months ago I was cleared of anymore cancer so I am on the road to recovery and finding out how the 'new me' is going to look. My physical rehabilitation has been difficult but I can now stand slowly and walk a few metres unaided.
My goal is to get my independence back and be able to get around in my community and start 'doing stuff' .The biggest part of this is going to be getting a trike from Trikes New Zealand modified for me. It is a Pedal trike to assist with my physical rehabilitation but it will be modified with a motor to assist me.
The Trike is going to cost around $6000 and I fall out of the age bracket for most Trike funding options. This is why I am appealing to givealittle to help me : ) Any donation would be hugely appreciated and I cant begin to put into words what having my independence back will mean to me. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.
I am involved because I am the recipient
