Tau Te Arohanoa Akoranga is fundraising to develop its own unique school site in South Kaipara to continue to serve this community.

Auckland

Tau Te Arohanoa Akoranga (TTAA) was established in 2000 as a private school with a special character. TTAA is a Year 1-13 state integrated school, currently operating as a satellite campus of KingsWay School – Orewa. It has a special character which is firstly biblical. It seeks to develop and support a bi-cultural and bi-lingual environment (which at the present time includes a full immersion environment) that provides quality education to all our students.

Our vision is to provide families with an opportunity to have their children learn within a biblical framework and an atmosphere that encourages Whanaungatanga (being a family or community), respect and value for Maori as tangata whenua and participation in a bi-cultural, bilingual setting.

Tau Te Arohanoa Akoranga also seeks to provide a rich teaching and learning programme that offers both personalised and group learning programmes and a commitment to raise levels of achievement for students who are performing below their capacity. We uphold the values and principles of Te Ao Maori and the Bible. Our philosophy corresponds to Te Whare Tapawha model which recognizes the four dimensions of individual well-being.

TTAA has been a registered kura (school) since 2000. We provide a unique educational learning environment in the South Kaipara (Biblical, Bilingual, Bicultural). In 2011 we became an integrated satellite campus of KingsWay School (Orewa). At this time the Ministry of Education required us to relocate or develop within three years, a site that would meet their building Code of Compliance. We are currently negotiating for a site to build our kura and are fundraising for our deposit. Meanwhile we are temporarily sited at the old primary campus of KingsWay School at 100 Jelas Road.

I [Jan Porter] am the founder of Tau Te Arohanoa Akoranga and am a part of a Development Group which consists of skilled and experienced supporters who are working together to see a successful outcome to the kura's need for a suitable and compliant site.

Funds are being sought to help Tau Te Arohanoa Akoranga develop a new school site. This will established in 2 stages. The first stage involves an upfront deposit to cover a 3 year lease term of part of a new building being built by Kumeu Baptist Church. Stage 2 will be the building of our own school site on land to be leased from Kumeu Baptist Church. We already have $50,000 available and aim to grow that deposit to more than $100,000 through various forms of fund-raising. This deposit can be then be topped up with funding from others who are willing to support our efforts.

Thank you for your support which is vital to building the deposit and demonstrating that there is community support and commitment for the kaupapa.
