Thank you everybody for your donations!! Less than 24 hours after I shared the page, the goal was reached! Your generosity has been overwhelming, thank you. :) Tyrion is a very lucky wee man with all of these people pulling together to help him get his surgery.

I will pay the bill off and post a receipt for you guys on 27 November or 27 December, depending on when the money arrives in my account from Give A Little.

If you want to see my terrible attempts at photographing a black animal against black furniture, my instagram is @i_am_j_mo . Will also try to post some videos to youtube and share the links here.

Thanks once again guys. It is very, very much appreciated. - Jen and Tyrion x

**********************

This is the lovely Tyrion. He was dumped in a New Brighton domain two months ago and came to live with me after I saw an ad on Trade Me. I was aware that he would very likely need his incisors removed and was under the impression that this would be paid for by a charity, but apparently I was incorrect...

When I adopted Tyrion it became obvious that he had not been given the chance to care for himself. His nails were razor sharp and his fur indicated that he was malnourished. He didn't even know what to do with hay!

Two vet nurse friends recommended that I should give him a chance to care for his teeth himself, so I took him into my vet for a tooth trim (under sedation) about a month ago. This turned into a slightly expensive mini-operation when one of his molars fell out! Thankfully some lovely people helped me out with half of the bill and I hoped that this would the end of it.

I gave him lots of chew toys to help him keep his teeth down, however his teeth were so misaligned and tusk-like (see photo) that this did not work. My usual vet advised me to take him to the only vet in Christchurch who is able to do tooth surgery.

I took him in to see this vet and have a tooth trim two days ago. The original plan was to keep taking him in for tooth trims until I had raised funds for the surgery. However, the vet rang me up and advised that she would prefer to take his teeth out straight away as they were growing into his jaws and damaging them - so I panicked and agreed to do what was best for my wee man!

Unfortunately this puts me in a bit of a financial pickle as I am on the Invalids Benefit and was wrongly expecting a charity to help with the malocclusion surgery bill.

**My usual vet is happy to let me pay for any unexpected bills with weekly direct debits, however the only place that does this tooth surgery requires payment asap.** The total bill after my contribution is $434. (Proof of bill provided in "updates" section)

Tyrion is very happy here. He has spent the last two weeks binky-ing around and filling the bunny-shaped hole in my heart that my 'old girl' left when she died of cancer. He plays nicely with the cat, jumps on you if he wants a pat, sleeps on the bed (until the 'dawn madness' strikes!), and seems to think that the couch is just for him.

He came home from the vets a few hours ago and is currently chilling on the bed. :) Any sized donation would be greatly appreciated. It will go directly to the vets to pay the bill that is in my name. Thank you for reading my ramblings and for your help. :)

Update: It's been a week since his surgery and he is doing very, very well. He is eating well, his digestion is great and he is constantly asking for head rubs! You can see a picture of his removed teeth in the updates section. The vet advised that the previous owners had completely ruined them by attempting to file them themselves. As you can see from the picture, they are definitely not normal bunny teeth and were far too long inside his jaw!

Paid!!  6 January 2017

Hi everybody,

Sorry, got a bit distracted by Christmas holidays and forgot to update! The money was paid to the Vets around 22 December. Thank you so much, it was a huge relief to not have to think about it anymore. :) I paid via Internet banking, so will post a photo of the receipt once they have sent it in the mail.

Merry Christmas from Tyrion (on his new favourite chair)!

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause. Hi there. As a mum of a rescue CashLop who also had appalling Malocclusion before coming to me as a matted, starving, suffering wee man, I sympathise. Westley is now bonded with Buttercup and is a blissfully happy bun. I wish you all the best and hope this donation helps a bit. I'll try to contribute some more next payday.
