Together, we'll be walking, running and fundraising for Union Wellington's annual membership of the Living Wage Movement.
Wellington
Unions Wellington are proud members of the Living Wage Movement - so a team of Wellington union officials, delegates, members and friends have come together to raise money that will go directly to the fantastic work of the Living Wage Movement.(http://www.livingwage.org.nz/)
Thank you for your support of our team and the Living Wage Movement - any contribution you can make is very welcome. You might even consider donating our team the Living Wage - $19.25!
The aims of Living Wage Movement are to facilitate the organisation of communities to:
- secure the income necessary to provide workers and their families with the basic necessities of life
- encourage and promote the development of better policies for working people
- raise public awareness and understanding of the issues associated with low income workers
- develop the capacity and skills of our members to support and advocate for low waged workers.
The Living Wage for 2015 is $19.25. The Living Wage is defined as: The income necessary to provide workers and their families with the basic necessities of life.
A living wage will enable workers to live with dignity and to participate as active citizens in society. The Living Wage amount is set through independent research by the Family Centre Social Policy Research Unit led by Charles Waldegrave.
Morgan James-Tressider and Gina Lockyer are co-convenors of Unions Wellington.
Unions Wellington is a CTU local affiliate council - a network of Wellington union members.
