Unity Kitchen - A not for profit community-owned enterprise powered by the sun and local people to feed our children. Together, We Eat

Wellington

The Unity Kitchen has officially been launched!

4 years in the dreaming, 18 months in the building we are proud to present our one of a kind off-grid community kitchen - to provide beautiful, globally inspired food made from locally grown produce, fuelled by the sun with produce from our Urban Kai Network and Unity Kitchen team who provide world food catering and cooking workshops celebrating our diverse ethnic community.

Our Unity Kitchen is a not for profit enterprise, based outside our home, The ReMakery in Waiwhetu, Lower Hutt. The kitchen is dedicated to ensuring our community is fed through the restoration of our local food system and celebrating the talent of our cooks and chefs of Lower Hutt, our ethnic diversity, and locally grown produce. The kitchen will also provide a space for learning, education, catering enterprise opportunities, world kitchen workshops (globally inspired by the flavours of our community).

Right now we produce and distribute around 350 meals a week free to the community. With your help, we hope to increase that volume to around 2,500 a week by 2021.

We need your help to fund our chef so she can create these meals to feed others, and to provide education opportunities. We need your help to fund the running costs of the kitchen to ensure we can fulfill its destiny!

Meals are now available to be ordered (just $6 each!) and every meal purchased enables the same meal to be gifted to a child. For a seasonal ever-changing menu please visit our website or contact unitykitchen@cupa.org.nz.
