Unwell Kitten - Lower Hutt

$1,910 donated
Given by 55 generous donors in 4 weeks

Very unwell kitten that needs a boost to have a happier start to life, she already has soooo much love.

Wellington

This we Kitten was found at our business in the Hutt, we are in the process of catching some of the strays (being an industrial area) and getting them fixed.

We came across this girl, very unwell, she was exhausted but hanging onto life. She is absolutely dirty and smelly and is just bones.

We have taken her into the Vet to give her the best chance at life and she is getting the works, xrays (as her poor hand looked injured), bloods and a solid couple of days on a drip. We will also arrange to have her fixed if she makes it through.

We have four indoor furbabies and one outdoor at the moment, so before we even decide where this girl goes or if we can keep her we just want her healthy.

Updates from the 9th until today   14 August 2018

9th August

Update : they’ve hooked her up to a drip but have said it’s less than 50% chance she makes it through the night ( I’m tying to to believe that as toots has the same prognosis at one point) so we are battling on, not ready to give up the fight yet. They will call during the night if anything changes and Jase has to be back there 7.30 tomorrow morning to shift her back to petone vets ❤️

9th August

Sooo good news!!! She made it through the night and can hold her head up a bit. Jase has just picked her up to take her back to the petone vet - where they will reassess her and give him a better update. They’re wondering if she has the cat flu, but we’ll know more soon. The fact she is fighting means well keep fighting for her to stay alive ( obviously within reason - as we don’t want her to suffer) ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ 🤞🏻 🤞🏻 🤞🏻 phew!! Go kitten !!

10th August

Update: kitten is improving but still not well enough not to head back to the afterhours for a night there to be cared for. She is waiting on a few more test results, still very tired and having issues with her glucose however tonight on the transfer to afterhours she made eye contact with Jase and blinked and followed his movements a little so her ability to concentrate is there ( the other day it was just a blank stare). This is the first time I’ve actually seen her - my it’s all Jase doing the work, running her about etc as I’ve been at work and had other bits on. He’s possibly going to be a crazy cat man hehe 😜 so fingers crossed she makes it through another night. Total paid so far $1615.35 ekkk but she’s worth it. Any other ideas for names? We think it’s time to name her ❤️

Breaking news: just had an update

From the vet! They are going to trial kitten off the drip this afternoon and see how she goes and then if she does well she can come home overnight (then back to vets tomorrow). We are beyond excited!!! 🐾 🐾 🐾 🐾 🐾 ❤️ ( edit to say I posted this earlier but by accident as a reply to a comment 🙂

11th August

Update: we ANGEL 👼 is home for the weekend, she has confirmed Giardia so is being treated for this, still a few other more serious tests to come back ( they have to be cultured). They didn’t get a chance to groom her so we’ll arrange something this weekend for her. She’s looking good and building a weee personality ❤️

12th August

Morning update: were still torn on the name angel or kitten - just as we’ve called her kitten the whole way and it seems so natural. She’s ok today, still slow week and tired. She doesn’t move her tounge ( something that will get better when the ulsers go) she’s a wee personality when she does have energy, I put down a tiny bit of my beef , jase went to move it closer to her and she swiped, so her natural instincts about real meat is there hehe ❤️ she’s still got a long road but we’ll see her thru 🙂

12th August

Update: called the vet, she’s only improved tiny bit with the drip, but she’s still eating. And any

Improvement is a good improvement considering she’s only 48 hours into her Giardia treatment. They said she’s still a bit cold now but that’s just her current condition. We’re not giving up yet when they still think there’s hope. She’s a fighter, the fact she hasn’t gone backwards at all is our positive we’re holding onto. ❤️ commmmon kitttttten .. come home

13th August

Update: the vets

Are checking if kitten has panleukopenia or Feline Infectious Peritonitis if it’s either of these they aren’t really survivable for her. So crossing my fingers it’s

Not one of these. She’s still improving and fighting so until we get one of this diagnosis or she’s showing no fight we’re going to continue to fight for her. She’s had a feeding tube in as they think the ulcers are stopping her eating as much as she should ( even tho she’s willing to eat on her own) more drip and we wait ❤️ 🐾

Today

Morning, had a good night, two hourly feeds and toileting (Weve been getting up together as it’s a two person job for sure) plus each time we tried to get her up for some play ( she gets exhausted quick) but seeing her ears wiggle in excitement at the string makes us know she wants a good life. She’s still not in pain or to uncomfortable. She ate about 40 mils of food last night and when I brought it to her this morning she lunged her face forward when she smelt it. So today we are feeling positive, back to the spca for a day in the incubator ( as that seems to be very helpful) ❤️ 🐾 from our family Michelle, jase, toots, charlie, Milly, Molly and Gemma ❤️

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
