Help us bring my mum home. After a leg amputation and then a cancer diagnosis, she needs urgent support to cover her medical bills.
Glenbrook, Auckland
My mum, Akanesi Finau came to New Zealand from Fiji to visit her grandchildren — but what was meant to be a joyful trip has turned into a medical emergency. She fell seriously ill, underwent a leg amputation, and has now been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She’s been in hospital in Auckland for over five weeks.
As a Fijian citizen with limited financial means, Mum’s insurance has not covered her mounting medical bills here in NZ. We are urgently trying to raise $130,000 to cover her medical expenses and help her safely return home to Fiji.
Any support — no matter how small — would mean the world to us. Please help us bring mum home and give her the care and dignity she deserves.
Akanesi Finau is my mother. She came to New Zealand to visit me and my family but fell seriously ill. I’m organising this fundraiser to help cover her medical bills and support her return home to Fiji.
The funds will go directly toward mum’s medical bills here in New Zealand and to support her safe return to Fiji. If we don’t reach our full goal, every dollar raised will still help cover her hospital expenses and essential care needs.
