International

We are facing unprecedented challenges around the globe due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But as the coronavirus pandemic accelerates those at greatest risk are the refugees living in camps in developing countries. We acknowledge that this is a difficult time for all of us and even those not living in refugee camps are also facing hardship but we at least have the basics to survive and are in a much better position in comparison.

Refugees are susceptible to increased vulnerabilities relating to access to healthcare, testing, and preventive measures and are often confined to restricted spaces without adequate access to life-saving supports.

The World Health Organisation has instructed us all to limit the spread of COVID-19 by social distancing, regularly washing our hands with soap, stocking up on essential food and supplies, and visiting a medical professional if we see symptoms.

But in refugee camps, the cramped living conditions, lack of sanitation, limited access to food, limited clean water, lack of soap, and extremely limited health facilities, puts millions of refugees and displaced communities at a severe risk of contracting the virus and spreading it fast — this only frustrates global efforts to slow the spread and contain the virus.

The only way to fight this virus is for everyone to do their part. This means coming to the aid of the ultra-vulnerable who are least able to protect themselves, in an urgent push to curb the risks and lessen the impact of COVID-19.

Donate now to ensure vulnerable refugee families can get clean water, soap, and food supplies to help them survive the COVID-19 lockdown.

$50 can help provide a family of 5 with food supplies for one week.

We have team members currently working in refugee camps in the Kurdish region of Iraq where there are more than one million displaced children and families. We have partnered with local service providers who work in refugee camps and will liase directly with camp management to organise the delivery of supplies to families in camps.
