Help Lilian & her family purchase a suitable vehicle, to transport Lily & her power wheelchair, to access the world!
Canterbury
Lilian is one of the most beautiful people you could ever meet; intelligent, kind, with a great sense of humour and a heart of gold, but she lives every day with struggles an average teenager doesn't have to face. Lily has Oto Spondylomega Epiphyseal Dysplasia, a rare condition that affects her growth and joints; about to turn 14 and already 1.84 metres tall and still growing, she lives constantly in pain. Her mobility is greatly limited by the condition and has reduced significantly over the last few years, to the point where she is only able to walk for 50 metres, so she relies heavily on the use of her power wheelchair. Unfortunately her power chair doesn't fit in her family's car, so Lily has to use her manual chair, which affects her both physically and emotionally. Lily is only able to look downwards, and due to the positioning of her manual chair can only see the floor; she suffers more pain in this chair and she needs to be pushed when using it. Getting into and out of a car is awkward and painful for her. Lily craves independence and relying on someone push her wheelchair really brings her down. Lily would love to be able to visit the malls, go to the movies and do all the things a teenage girl should be able to do! We hope to raise enough money to buy a van that can be fitted with a power chair hoist for Lily's family, to enable Lily and her family to live life to the fullest, without being limited because of a vehicle.
I'm Lily's neighbour and friend. I'm inspired by Lily's courage and zest for life.
