Vesabroad volunteer work in Ecuador, South America, January-February, 2018
Canterbury
My name is Andrew and I am 29 years old, in my second year of studying marine science at Canterbury University in Christchurch.
In January next year, I am taking part in a 3 and a half week volunteer course in Ecuador, South America through the Vesabroad programme.
This volunteer project involves travelling to an inaccessible village by canoe, helping to provide invaluable infrastructure to those without access to basic necessities, and teaching English to the village children.
I'm involved in this cause because I enjoy travelling, I love working with other people and helping in the community, and doing this in the Amazon Rainforest will definitely be an amazing, once in a life time opportunity and I certainly do not want to miss out!
The funds will be used to cover:
- International airfares to and from Ecuador, plus international airfares to the international point of departure from New Zealand (Auckland)
- Accommodation for the duration of the programme and all ground transportation across the country
- Building materials for the volunteer project, plus hiring of local skilled tradespeople to assist in the projects
- All admission fees and administration costs
- Certification of completion of the volunteer programme
