Help Rosalyn's father, Vicente, in his battle against lung cancer

$1,550 donated
Given by 18 generous donors in 5 weeks

He still has so much to give, so please help me raise funds for my father in the Philippines so he can continue fight off his lung cancer.

Hamilton, Waikato

It was around this time last year (December 2020) when my mother was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer, which she’s courageously battled through until March this year. Unfortunately, the same illness (Stage 4 Lung Cancer) has befallen my father in May 2021, just a few months after her passing.

In October 2021, he was hospitalised for a week and had to undergo 3 high fluid radiation. He’s also started his chemotherapy in November, resulting in serious side effects and complications in his lungs, stomach, heart, and blood systems. These are on top of his pre-existing conditions like diabetes and hypertension. He had to be hospitalised for three weeks.

Because of this, we have decided to discontinue his chemotherapy. However, he is now on a three-month treatment regimen with Enoxaparin sodium, a quite expensive drug in the Philippines. This medication also needs to be professionally administered daily by a qualified nurse during home visits. He also has to regularly see at least five specialists to monitor his progress.

Being their only child, I have supported my parent’s individual journeys with the gracious support of people close to us. It has been an arduous year of emotional, mental, and financial burden, but giving up is not an option - not while my father still has the guts to keep on fighting. He is a person who continues to keep a positive attitude and puts on a smile amidst his illness. He wants to be able to take control of his life and live an active lifestyle again.

I am starting this fundraising on 29 December, my late mother’s birthday. In her memory and in the celebration of her life, please help me continue supporting my father as he focuses on his healing and recovery. May God's blessings be upon you and your family.Dios ang Magbalos.

Use of funds

All funds raised will be spent towards his medication costs, professional fees, and any future medical needs that might arise as he continue his cancer battle.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
