I am asking Videomail users to give back a little bit for covering the running costs I have paid out of my pocket for years.
International
www.videomail.io is the one and only free online service where Deaf people can email in Sign Language right away. It's unique, and becoming more and more popular. Initially started as a science project of mine, Michael Heuberger, it is now heavily used by Deaf people around the globe.
65% of its traffic comes from New Zealand alone. Deaf people in Aotearoa use it heavily, as Videomail helps them a lot in their everyday lives. Modern technologies still do not fully embrace Sign Language. That's where Videomail comes to the rescue, and makes Sign Language inside emails possible!
After 4 years of development, it's now stable, and can be used anywhere, even on smartphones. It's free for everyone. The code is open source and can be found on GitHub, for reuse on any other contact pages.
My long term goal is to turn this into a serious product where the sound/audio will be a purchased add-on. With the revenue from audio, part of it would be returned to the Sign Language community, which is a cultural minority.
To keep Videomail running, I'm now asking for your help to cover running costs, which I have in the past paid out of my own pocket.
The funds would cover running costs for 2018/19. Due to high traffic and heavy disk usage from video recordings, monthly fees are NZ$176; over 1 year this comes to NZ$2,112.
These costs are crucial to keeping Videomail's excellent service running 24/7.
