Nacula Island needs Food
Otago
Bula,
Tropical Cyclone Winston has now been & gone leaving a trail of devastation and heart break for Fiji, one of our most favourite travel destinations.
We are are looking to help the island of Nacula & their immediate villages as they request assistance with food and supplies.
Whilst Naisili, Navotua, Malakati and Nacula were extremely lucky compared to other villages who lost homes and lives, Cyclone Winston left a mark by wiping out their crops and plantations. With the villages relying on their own sustainability and realiant on their root crops and farms to support their communities, their concern is how to feed the village whilst they wait to re-establish their farms.
For those of you that know Fiji and have visited Nacula, you would of been on a village trip, met these beautiful people, seen their churches, school and homes and seen for your selves the hills of plantations.
Now they need you - with their kasava and root crops all now wiped out and the breadfruit pulled from the trees - their supplies are running short.
Our mission is to raise as much as possible, which then along with the asisstance from the resort - will aid in getting supplies - seedlings and farming equipment to the villages. With the resort in the meantime sending hundreds of kilos weekly to the villages - they are able to organise the freight and the co-ordination of the supplies - this is how we 100% know that your donations will go directly to the people.
This page will stay open for as long as you want to keep donating, Please help us spread the word and givealittle..... every little bit helps.
Vinaka,
We have the pleasure of working directly day to day with team at Blue lagoon Beach resort located at the island. With 6 years of personally helping all visitors to the island - we know all too well the strong connection this special place has for all that are lucky enough to visit.
