Volleyball is one of many user pays sports in New Zealand even at the elite level and representing your country cost thousands of dollars.
The New Zealand U20 team is attending both the US High Performance Champs 2019 in Fort Lauderdale, US and Asain Cup in 2020 (venue TBC) and the cost associated with each trip is around $6000.
Many of the athletes are still and school or at first year university and parents have to help fund the cost associated with these trips, High performance camps and trials during the year and many find it hard to come up with all the cost to help achieve their son's aspirations to represent New Zealand.
I would like to think that we can take the top athletes to these competitions, not just the athletes that can afford to attend.
Use of funds
Funds raised will go toward the cost of the flights for the athletes and help families with financial pressures meet the required cost associated with the trip. The Additional fund will go towards the 2020 Asian games.
