Volunteering in Zambia and Zimbabwe
Wellington
Next year July I embark on an amazing adventure to volunteer around Africa. I am going through the amazing company International Volunteer HQ.
My first volunteer stop is Livingstone, Zambia, where I will be spending 9 weeks helping with community development. Zambia is located in Southern Africa at the end of the Great Rift Valley. The volunteer work will involve a range of activities with a common goal of supporting the development of local communities in Livingstone. Some examples of the work I will be doing include construction, agricultural support, providing assistance to vulnerable children and adults with HIV, as well as helping with income generating projects such as the production of crafts and food to be sold at local markets.
My second volunteer stop is Zimbabwe, where I will be spending 4 weeks helping with wildlife conservation at Victoria Falls. The volunteer work will involve conservation management activates and assisting on going wildlife research. This will allow me to work directly with an anti-poaching team, while also giving me the opportunity to attend lectures on conservation in Southern Africa.
This trip presents an amazing opportunity for me. It allows me to give back to those who are in most need and actually make a difference in their lives.
