Walking back to health - 42kms walking Marathon for the New Zealand Blood Clot Foundation
Auckland
A sore calf muscle, turns into a nightmare as and DVT broke off and travelled through my Heart and ended up giving me Multiple Blood Clot's in my Lungs. "Pulmonary Embolism". Hospital Care was Fantastic, but aftercare was pretty non existent. After a lot of research, meetings and consideration I am establishing New Zealand Blood Clot Foundation which will be a Charitable Trust with 2 other trustee's Larry Robins MBE, and Dr Eileen Merriman who is the Clinical Director of Haematology and thrombosis for Waitemata Health. this is aimed at raising awareness through Education and Support, we will provide Blood Clot Survivors all the Information they need. The Paperwork and the all important Trust Deed has been submitted.
I will be a Trustee of the Charity and driving force along with Larry Robins MBE, and Dr Eileen Merriman who is the Clinical Director of Haematology and thrombosis for Waitemata Health.
The Money Raised will be seed money for the Charity, helping with set Up and initial Operating cost's. It will take a few month for Charitable status and incorporation.
A tough walk but well worth it. 6 March 2025
I took 9 hours and 5 minute to walk the 42.2km's. Blistered feet and extremely tired but I made it to the end, I can't thank you enough. The New Zealand Blood Clot Foundation is now fully Registered and incorporated. Now the real journey begins. Thank - You for the support.
