Walking for women! Empowering women to live safe, and healthy lives, free from violence, through Battered Women's Trust, Christchurch
Canterbury
Battered Women's Trust is a Christchurch based women's refuge supporting women & children to live safe & healthy lives, free from violence.
Our 24/7 Crisis Line is available for advice at any time of the day if you need help, or are concerned about someone else. We help in both crisis and non-crisis situations.
How far could you walk for women and children impacted by family violence during our Annual Appeal month of July 2020? 5km, 10km, 20km, 40km ... the choice is yours!
Walk in your 'bubble', or by yourself, or walk together in bigger teams, share what you're doing on facebook, #batteredwomenstrust and donate to help people in need. Set a target daily, weekly or for the month, spread the word and you'll be helping raise awareness, encouraging donations and getting fit too!
If walking isn't for you, that's fine too ... please just share our give a little page, and let people know that you are a supporter of Battered Womens' Trust (women's refuge), and ask others to consider supporting women and children in need too!
"Just knowing I had somewhere safe for me and my child was awesome"
SHE (Support, Heal, Empower) - formerly Battered Women's Trust, is an affiliated women's refuge in О̄tautahi Christchurch supporting women & children to live safe & healthy lives, free of family violence.
SHE is dedicated to empowering women and their children to live with autonomy and safety. Women, and their whānau, come to us at a great time of need, typically accessing our services through our vital 24/7 Crisisline, or through a professional referral or self-referral. We listen to their story, assess the safety needs of the caller and help them at their point of need. We assist them in the completion of a personalised safety plan for them and their children, which may include housing them in our own Women’s Refuge Safehouse accommodation, which is available any time, day or night.
Over the past year (1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024) we have provided 1,824 bed nights for women and their children, and received 1,242 calls through our Crisisline, which operates 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
