Walsh Memorial Flying School

My daughter Kaya is working towards her Queen Scout award. She has had a number of modules that have to be completed to achieve this and is well on her way. She has successfully arranged a 3-day tramp from Kaitoke to Mt Holdsworth, learnt new skills like sailing and cooking (which was to our benefit as we were the guinea pigs) completed 45 hours of volunteering across 20 weeks and so many other cool things.

The latest module is a 5 day residential project. She has chosen the Walsh Flying School for this. She has regularly flown in the Sounds Air planes to visit her dad and often sits up front with the pilot. I think it’s great that this has inspired her to want to learn to fly.

This means she has to raise about $2500 for the course and medical. She has already saved a few hundred dollars and has a job and is also looking into fundraising activities.

As her mum, I am very proud of what she has already achieved and amazed her drive and dedication. I know she will become a valuable member of society and maybe even her childhood dream of being the president of Cambodia.
