Washed away Wairau Valley

A morning I will never forget. Had just moved to Wairau Valley malbrough short of three weeks and still unpacking ,we woke up to a river around our house, not to scare our children we made it an adventure to go stay in a another cottage on the farm we had to evacuate. The mess, loss of belongings that floated away our firewood for the winter,the damage of all our gear that was in the sheds not unpacked, lawn movers, everything destroyed by the water and silt,no insurance, new job, fresh start 😞 we are still waiting to be able to return to our home, sewerage and drainage need to be sorted and power before we can return. Gut wrenching but still trying to smile and solider on without a fuss. If anyone can help we would be forever grateful ❤️
