This page is to raise funds to build a mobile game that educates players about waste.
Auckland
It is estimated that in Aotearoa New Zealand we generate 17.49 million tonnes of waste per year, of which an estimated 12.59 million tonnes are sent to landfills. Landfills contribute to greenhouse gases and climate change. And the rubbish that doesn't make it to the bin can end up in our oceans or worse - in the belly of a hungry animal.
WastEd. is a mobile app game that teaches the player how to be more sustainable. It is aimed at educating players about the different types of waste and the best ways to deal with each. The game will be educational, fun and engaging with increasing levels of complexity, multiple reward opportunities and personal ranking on the leaderboard. The game also assigns real-life challenges, to encourage behaviour change, that can be performed for additional rewards.
The game story is narrated by our main character Ed. Ed is a likeable cute, friendly super-rat. He is a badass when it comes to busting myths about waste. He has a ton of attitude and reminds everyone that “we only have 1 earth!” Ed carries a garbage picking tool and a recycling box. He tells the story of what's happening in the world because of waste and how these actions will help.
Please feel free to contact me for more information about the game concept.
The money will be used to hire game developers to build and test the game, IT equipment and marketing assistance to promote the game.
I think so too, thanks Brandon
