Ivan Tito 80yrs Needs Clean Water

  • Donations have stopped.

      20 November 2019

Since I have been asked to remove the page from Facebook donations have stopped. The page seemed to offend many people because of the negativity it was generating because of the shocking outcome. Many people provided water and not long after my last update Ivan spilt boiling water on his leg and an ambulance rushed out to his aid. He got quite a bad burn but nothing too serious. In the mean time there has been discussions of fundraising but not much action. I am currently in conversation with te puni kokiri and am hoping to get some support from them. I think I am back to square one and may need to look at fundraising options on my own as Ivan and I have not received support that was anticipated by others comments. We don't seem to have the support for this project and will be glade to take any reccomendations or ways to keep moving the program forward.

  • Amazing Response and Generous Aid to Ivan

      11 November 2019

Ivan has had a tanker fill up his small water tank and many have turned up at Ivan's home with water bottles and water box's. Thank you to everyone that has donated and acted so diligently. We have also been blessed with an abundance of rain. Our focus now is to come up with some fundraising ideas to generate our target amount to begin our project. We realized that this project will actually be a solution to not just Ivan but the whole surrounding community as this water can be diverted to the Marae that help to support several homes in the area. We are also trying to start a discussion with Te Puni Kokiri that may be able to offer some assistance.

Thanks to Finnisha Tuhiwai-Birchall and her contact from from the Mangakahia Valley

"who works for a Government agency and has very kindly took it upon themselves to awhi the need our Uncle Ivan has regarding water. They have organised a tank of water to be delivered in the next day or so so our Matua has water. This is a one off offer and will not be available on request, it is a short term solution for now. As whanau know, we have ongoing issues to sort with our water system. Thank you whanaunga for your aroha. Nga mihi"

Ivan has received bottles and containers of fresh drinking water and currently in the process, hopefully in the next 24 hours will be receiving some water in his small 2000 litre tank so he can have an actual shower. Thank you to those that have donated already and those that have offered and provided help. So far we have received offers to provide labour once we start this project from the Church of Jesus Christ of Laterday Saints and a few others willing to provide assistance in removing trees and preparing to bury water hose and other labor that will be required.

Please continue to post and share and give a little so we can make a huge difference in our Kamatua's last remaining years of dedicated service and responsibility to our beloved whanau and loved ones who have passed on.

    Kia mihi
