The Band have been invited to attend the British Open in Birmingham 2016. This will involve a lot of fundraising to ensure our members can get to the event and to help us pay for accommodation, flights and other expenses while we are there.

The event itself is one of the most sought after prizes in the Brass Band world and it is an honour just to be invited.

Competing at this level will be a once in a lifetime event for most of the bands members so please give generously to help us make this a reality.

The Wellington Brass Band is the primary sponsor for this event. The committee and British Open Project Team have undertaken to support the band to get to the event through fundraising activities and coordination.

About us

Wellington Brass Band Incorporated is a not-for-profit charitable organisation providing quality, professional musical alternatives to the public of the Greater Wellington Region.

We are home to the Champion Band of New Zealand, Capital Brass Band, Wellington Youth Brass and the Steinbenders (Wellingtons Premier Bavarian Band). We were established in 1905 as part of the Tramways band and have enjoyed a long and successful heritage of music in Wellington ever since.

We have produced many fine players over the years, who have have gone on to successful careers as performers, conductors and composers.

Our goals are:

To promote brass banding in the Wellington Community

To positively contribute to the Brass Band movement in New Zealand and Internationally

To provide quality musical alternatives to the youth of the Greater Wellington Region

To perform to the highest standard possible, and be a source of great pride for Wellington

To compete at the highest level of banding, with dedication, commitment and flair
