We Love you Jason

I’m going to do two things that are abhorrent to me. One is talk about my feelings the other is ask for help.

My big brother Jason took his own life recently. He was heavily depressed and couldn’t find a way out. He leaves behind 2 beautiful daughters and an amazing wife. Our family are still reeling from the blow and I don’t think we’ll ever fully come to terms with it.

Jason was a smart, introspective kind soul. More importantly he was a loving father, adored by his children, and my daughter. Sadly Jason you will never get to meet the Bailie legacy, Cullen, the two of you would have got on famously. He is just as cheeky and sensitive as you are.

Jason never knew how to ask for help, and was constantly battling his inner demons. He carried too much inside and never shared. Please if you take anything away from reading this be brave and reach out to someone who needs you. You will know who that is. A simple honest conversation can be life-saving. I never did and it kills me that I could have done more. My petty excuse was a time-zone difference.

Jason decided to take his life in a place that he loved, the bush. After four days of Search and Rescue with sniffer dogs, helicopters and an army of volunteers they found his body.

Not only do his wife and daughters have to deal with his passing but are now straddled with the cost of the rescue effort. If you feel that you’d like to help support them please donate a little something at this give-a-little page. All the money collected will go towards helping them cover costs.
