We need your help to get our Tamariki the Playground they desperately need!

Ao Tawhiti Unlimited Discovery is an area school located right in the heart of Ōtautahi Christchurch’s city centre.

Currently, we lack any dedicated outdoor play space at all, due to our limited area, which restricts traditional playground installations.

The benefits of outdoor play are profound and proven, it is vital for whole-child growth, development, and well-being.

We are seeking help to partially fund the build of an outdoor Community Play Area for tamariki, rangatahi and whānau from both our Kura AND also our surrounding community.

We have collaborated with our ākonga to gain their voice on what they would like to see in the space, and with the help of Nature Flow Living Landscapes, and Emma Woods Playground Design and Consultation, have designed a beautiful space that incorporates movable equipment that can be rearranged to create different play scenarios and accommodate various age groups. This will encourage creativity, physical activity, and social interaction.

In addition, the incorporation of green spaces, such as vertical gardens and planters, will promote environmental awareness and provide much needed sensory experiences for our diverse community.

It will be a welcoming, inclusive, multifunctional play area that meets the needs of our ākonga, their whānau, AND the wider community, while making the best use of our limited available space.

Every little bit helps get our Tamariki playing outside, and will go directly to our Playground Fund.
