Countdown Kilos for Kids Challenge is open to all Progressive staff to safely lose weight and raise money for kids.
Nationwide
Countdown has launched the Kilos for Kids weight loss challenge. More info about Countdown in the community here: http://www.countdown.co.nz/in-the-community/countdown-in-the-community
The challenge is open to all Progressive employees across the business. I am based at the Wiri logistics warehouse in the IT office.
The competition is modeled after the “biggest loser” and is open for individuals and teams across the business to safely lose weight over 12 weeks (commencing Monday 10th November 2014, finishing Sunday 1 February 2015). I am entering as an individual.
It focuses upon the health benefits of weight loss through reduced BMI, lower risk of heart disease/strokes, lowered risk of preventable diabetes. This is to be achieved through sensible eating/nutrition and exercise.
All sponsorship money will be donated to Countdown Kids and the bank account details I've provided to GiveALittle are those of the charity account, so it doesn't go via me, but directly to Countdown Kids Charity account.
The Weigh in RULES.
===============
Initial Weigh In no later than Monday 10th November 2014 – Participants to be in as light attire as possible, i.e. no shoes, hats, belts, anything in pockets etc.
I must do an official weigh-in on Monday each week. And will post updates.
Scales – All scales must be electronic and validated by store/site Administrator. The Scales must be placed in the same location for each weigh in. (Tape maybe used to mark the exact area to ensure consistency).
My Goals
======
I have lost 30kg over the past 4 years and am successfully keeping it off, but have 'stalled'. I find having a challenge gives me an incentive to get back on track. I would like to get down to 60kg, which is 17.8kg to lose.
I also want to get back into running as I stopped last year following ankle surgery to fix a break and also had surgery in Oct '14 for other issues, so need to recover and rebuild to get back to running.
Update for 12/11/2014 12 November 2014
The official weigh-in has been done. 77.8kg, which means 17.8kg to lose by Feb in order to reach my goal. The weigh-in next Monday could be interesting as it's Taste of Auckland this coming Saturday. I go every year with friends and it's one of the days during the year where nomming everything in sight is fully expected. Sunday may need to be a fast and jog day to try and balance out Saturday's bad behaviour. :-)
