Welcome to Rewired Runner: Helping stroke survivors become their best.

Mark created Rewired Runner to turn lived stroke recovery into practical resources, hope, and inspiration for others.

Canterbury

After my stroke, I realised my real strength wasn’t running — it was helping people navigate hard times and believe a better life is still possible.

By sharing lived experience openly, this work has already reached hundreds of thousands of people globally. Together with a small group of stroke survivors I’ve been mentoring, we’ve built the foundations of Rewired Runner: a website, a connect-with-us network, and recovery-focused articles grounded in real experience.

This content is built from three places: what I wanted to know when I had my stroke, what I now wish I’d known sooner with hindsight, and the questions survivors I mentor keep asking as they rebuild life after rehab ends.

Those one-on-one conversations are what pushed me to share this more widely and ultimately drove the Rewired Runner concept: turning hard-won lessons into a resource more survivors can access.

The website goes live next week. This page exists to help cover essential external operating costs over the first 12 months so these resources can reach more people and the platform can grow responsibly.

No funds are used to pay me or the small group of survivors contributing to this project. All time and content creation is given freely, driven by purpose and a belief in helping others navigate recovery.

Any support is deeply appreciated — and if you can’t donate, sharing this page helps more than you think.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
