We’ve got you Chloe!

  • **UPDATE**

      27 May 2025

    Dear Family and Friends,

I’m relieved to announce that after a month in the hospital, my sister will be discharged tomorrow! She is doing really well and, while she’s still unwell, she can safely recover from the comfort of her home.

I’ve been with her for a week now, and it really hit hard that I nearly lost her. However, witnessing her strength, resilience, and determination to return home to Lily and Hayden has been truly inspiring. Her skin and eyes are healing well, though she will need to use special eye drops for several years to come.

Chloe is flying back to Kalgoorlie tomorrow and is looking forward to spending some quality time with her family. Please refrain from messaging or calling her, as she’ll reach out in her own time when she’s ready.

Thank you all so much for your support; it really means the world to Chloe, Hayden, and Lily, as well as her extended family.

    Much love,

    Jen xx

    Dear Family and Friends,

I have finally made it over Perth and am now with my sister. It’s been a bittersweet reunion, as she is definitely making great progress, but there’s still a long road ahead of her.

Nothing can really prepare you for seeing a loved one whose body has been ravaged by such a horrible condition. It’s a heart-wrenching experience, but we’re taking it one day at a time.

Chloe is in good spirits and trying to be positive. We hit a couple of milestones yesterday: she went for her first walk outside since being hospitalized, and she ate her first ‘real’ food when I bought us UberEats. These small victories mean so much to us!

As for her hospital stay, we know she will be in the hospital for at least another week. However, we’re still uncertain about how much longer it may extend beyond that. It seems that the timeline really depends on which specialist team you ask. Unfortunately, the wait really comes down to the opinions of the ophthalmologists. Her left eye still has a bit of healing to do.

Thank you all for your love and support during this time. I’ll keep you updated as things progress.

    Much love,

    Jen xx

  • **Update on Chloe**

      15 May 2025

We have some positive news regarding Chloe's recovery! Her eye surgery went really well, and while she's temporarily unable to see, we are hopeful that her vision will start to improve over the next week.

Chloe is currently being weaned off her heavy painkillers this weekend, and we’re pleased to report that there have been no new outbreaks on her skin, which indicates she is on the path to recovery.

She will likely be in the hospital for another couple of weeks, but we are grateful for the support she's receiving. Michelle, my wonderful mother-in-law, is doing a fantastic job caring for Chloe alongside her dedicated care team. Meanwhile, Lily and Hayden are being well-supported by Hayden’s parents in Kalgoorlie.

I’ll be flying over to see Chloe next week, and I can’t wait to be by her side. Thank you all for your continued support and love during this time!

    Dear friends and family,

I wanted to take a moment to update you on Chloe's current condition. We’re relieved to share that she is stable at the moment. However, as many of you know, she is facing some significant challenges ahead. On Monday, Chloe will undergo surgery on her eyes, where she will receive a membrane transplant. This procedure is crucial as it aims to reduce her pain and inflammation, accelerate healing, and potentially help with scarring.

Today is Mother’s Day, and we know this will be particularly tough for her. Please keep Chloe in your thoughts as she navigates through this difficult time.

Your support means the world to us xx

Thanks again for everyone's generous donations, we are so grateful to you all!

The latest update I've had is that Chloe is stable, so she hasn't got any better, but she hasn't got any worse either which is great news! She is getting a feeding tube put in today and is currently bandaged from the neck down to prevent infection. Essentially, she needs to be treated as if she's a burns patient. Not being able to see her daughter has been devastating for her and I know she's really struggling with this. She will be in hospital for another 3-4 weeks at this stage but again, the recovery process even once she's at home will be lengthy. The impact on Chloe emotionally, psychologically and physically will take some time to heal.

I know I keep saying this... but thank you!

I’m absolutely in awe of everyone’s generosity and can’t explain how incredibly grateful we are for all your support, so from the bottom of my heart… thank you!

We have had confirmation last night that it has now progressed to SJS/TEN (toxic epidermal necrolysis). Chloe was meant to be transferred to ICU/burns unit but they are full so her team of specialists are being guided by the burns team. I know you’ll all appreciate why I’m not posting photos but a quick google search will inform you all of how this condition progresses.

I’ll continue to update you as I find out more. Thanks for rallying behind our Chloe xx
