Rasing money for retirement for Auckland's own Mother Theresa
Auckland
Whaea Michelle Kidd QSM has worked tirelessly in the Auckland CBD and at the Auckland District Court for over 31 years.
She has provided invaluable assistance to all those affected by the criminal justice system, particularly the Homeless, vulnerable, addicted – and their families. She is known as the "angel" of the Auckland District Court and is highly valued by court participants, lawyers, judges, and others.
Please click on the link at the bottom of the page to see just a sample of the work Michelle has done.
This Christmas, Michelle will retire. It will be the first time in over 30 years that she will be able to spend Christmas with her own family rather than serving "her people" on the streets.
Michelle's dream has been to retire to Arapuni in the Waikato. She has built a home on her family land there. Unfortunately, there have been some unexpected challenges with the build which have resulted in her having to take out a mortgage to complete the build. Given that she will only have her pension as income this has put her retirement plans in jeopardy.
We ask those of you who can donate, whether a small amount or a little, so that Michelle can pay off the mortgage and finally have her well-deserved retirement.
I have been a colleague, friend and was one of the original Trustees of the Trust that has employed Michelle since 2014.
