We’re putting our hand up and asking for your help! We urgently need to raise $80,000 to continue our services in our community
Bay of Plenty
What would you give to save a life?
Covid-19 has hit all of us hard, in so many ways, and our club is no exception.
The biggest blow has been in the loss of function and bar income over the past two years, which is down over 80%.
While many usual summer events were postponed or cancelled this year, the beach and water proved the notable exception. Searing sunshine hours and balmy water temperatures made for one of the busiest seasons ever. This summer our lifeguards saved 38 lives, assisted 220 people to safety, and administered 78 first aid treatments – that’s more rescues completed than the past two seasons combined, and more patients assisted to safety than the past three seasons combined.
With a huge financial hole which is going to make it difficult for us to get through the winter, it’s now our turn to put our hand up and ask for your help.
What would you give to save a life?
• $29 – can help us buy a new pair of binoculars to spot someone in trouble
• $57 – can fit out a Lifeguard in uniform so they are easily identified on the beach
• $120 – can buy a rescue tube to help get swimmers safely to shore
• $369 – can buy a marine handheld radio to call for backup
• $2,399 – can buy a new surf rescue board to help save someone’s life
• $21,100 – can buy a new IRB to help us get to people in trouble quickly
Thanks in advance for answering our call for help.
