A lot can happen in two minutes.
You could order a coffee, write an email, take out the trash, call your friend, write a haiku, make a to-do list, play your favourite song, read this article.
Two minutes could be an eternity if you’re trying to hold your breath, or be over in a heartbeat when you hit the snooze button in the morning.
What if you find out you had 6 months to live; what does two minutes become then?
For Shelly, two minutes in a doctor’s office changed her life.
Shelly is a 43-year-old mother of two who was diagnosed with stage three lung cancer in early June. Two weeks later, in an appointment originally intended to discuss a treatment plan, Shelly’s oncologist delivered a crushing blow. Her cancer had aggressively spread to her lymph nodes, liver, and kidneys.
Shelly’s children, Courtney and Ben, have 6 months left with their mother. Her husband, Les, has 6 months left with his wife.
Sadly, as many of you may have already experienced, cancer can take a lot from a person, from a family. It can become the central point that family life revolves around; greedy, unrelenting, demanding all of your energy and attention.
Cancer doesn’t just take a physical toll; the emotional upheaval it causes has a far reach and a strong grip.
What it can’t do is take memories.
Shelly’s friends and family are hoping to raise some funds to give Shelly and her family some respite, and allow them to enjoy their time together as a family...sending them on their dream holiday (Queenstown - south island campervan trip)... The money raised will also go towards supporting Shelly treatment/ health costs so that she won’t have to consider going back to a physically changeling job just to cover her finances and support her family.
I am reaching out to you, from one human being to another, please use two minutes of your time to give Shelly a chance to create these memories.
With your help, we can transform two minutes into memories Shelly and her family can keep with them forever.
Any donation, little or large, will be hugely appreciated and will mean the world to Shelly and her family.
Thank you for taking two minutes to hear Shelly’s story – it means a lot. If you think a friend may have two minutes to spare, please pass it on.
Shelly like many others has touched our hearts and become a big part of our lives.
