Quad wheelchair for Rocksy

Rocksy is a 11 year old Rottweiler who had (what we think) a trauma related injury resulting in her not walking since the 14/07/2017. She went outside one night, came in and could not get up again. We think she may have slipped over or crashed into something.

We have seen several vets and specialists, they believe the injury is in the neck region. The recommendation was a MRI as well as staging tests (X-ray and ultrasound) however we are unable to afford these and there was risks involved having a general anaesthetic due to her age. If she required or even qualified for surgery it would be at least another $8000 and the surgery may not have worked.

We decided to take her home as she is very much apart of our family, doing palliative care until her quality of life was poor.

That was over 3 months ago and she is still going strong, she is able to move by crawling and rolling side to side, she still wags her tail, eats and drinks as normal and seems to have control of her bladder and bowels. She used to sleep in our bedroom so we have been sleeping in the lounge with her so she's not alone.

She is now able to walk with full support being held under the chest. We are hoping that we can purchase a quad full support cart.

She is a much loved family dog, a shadow to me and a protector of our family. She was raised with our 4 kids and is very loyal. She has a brilliant nature and we want to give her a new lease on life. We absolutely love her and will continue caring for her until she decides it's time.

Many people would not have kept going with a paralysed dog especially a 40kg Rottweiler but we believe we owed her and could not bear the thought of euthanising her when she is mostly happy.

Although caring for her has taken a toll on us, it is beginning to pay off with her regaining the use of her legs again and we wouldn't change it for the world.

There is limited availability for dog wheelchairs/carts and they are expensive. We are hoping through give a little that we can purchase one for her.
