Urgent surgery for Wiggy
Birkenhead, Auckland
Please Help URGENT
While preparing end-of-life for their elderly dog, Aunty’s young dog Wiggy was hit by a car
He's a loving Poodle X, part of a small family that has already known deep loss — Jack never got to meet his dad, who died suddenly before he was born. Since then, it’s just been mum, son & fur babys. To face losing both dogs at once is unthinkable
Wiggys care has so far exceeded $18,000, now he needs more surgery, the vets are optimistic, but we are fighting all the way for him.
Through it all Wiggy is still wagging his tail & giving so much love
🐾 Why wasn’t Wiggy insured?
He was
This year, Aunty, a solo mum studying & working, made the tough call to cancel his insurance, trying to build a new career in financial services. Her goal to help others make informed choices about insurance ironically a subject she knows well, for the wrong reasons...
Wrong reasons:
Aunty lost her partner Wayne suddenly when 9 weeks pregnant. Their comprehensive insurance didn't pay. Fine print said he had to survive heart failure for 14 days. Years later she cancelled her own trauma cover during COVID to reduce household costs only to be diagnosed with cancer not long after. (Thankfully, she’s well now) again no insurance
A few months after cancelling Wiggy’s policy… this.
Not asking for sympathy just understanding. Every decision has come from a place of care & doing the best she can in circumstances no one would choose.
Thank you so much, your kindness means the best chance of full recovery.
My aunty and her beautiful son.
Funds will go directly to:
• Emergency vet costs (stabilisation, scans, pain relief, possible surgery)
• Follow-up care and medications
Wiggys surgery went well, he will be resting and recovering at home later today! 22 July 2025
