Support my fundraising effort for rural Chinese children as I run/walk ~90km of the Great Wall of China in March 2020
Auckland
The Wild Women (WW) story started in South Africa in 2011 when a group of friends organised to run the Wild Coast in a safe, supportive and inexpensive way. The plan was the friends would create a fun, non-competitive and nurturing environment for women to go out and have a cool multi-day adventure in a place of astounding natural beauty.
In 2017 one of the founders of the WW moved with her family to Beijing, China where I was also based with my family. It is after joining a local hiking club that the dream of running Wild Women along the majestic Great Wall of China began and Wild Women on the Wall (WWoTW) was born.
The first WWoTW was held in April 2019 with 25 ladies representing 12 nationalities brought together largely due to their life in Beijing, fundraising for two charities specifically focusing on children. This was a huge success with RMB 144,877 (NZD~32,000) raised.
I have been convinced to take part one more time and will join the WWotW event in Beijing in March 2020 (21st – 23rd) and cover ~90kms of run/walk along the Great Wall.
All money raised will be donated to Roundabout, a Beijing based charity support rural children in the wider Beijing area.
Each Wild Woman is required to ‘pay her own way’ – none of the sponsorship money is used to fund runners. Every donation, irrelevant of value, makes a direct difference in the lives of these children.
