Funds for Willem's recovery Journey.
Manawatu / Whanganui
Willem was diagnosed with bowel cancer in December last year. He had surgery to remove a tumor the size of a golf ball from his lower bowel and ended up with an ileostomy bag. Further scans revealed cancer in his liver as well. Initially, there were concerns about shadows on his lungs and thyroid, but after more tests, they confirmed the only spread was to his liver.
About two weeks ago, he had surgery to remove part of his liver due to the secondary cancer. When they got in, they discovered more cancer than expected and had to remove around 65% of his liver.
Since then, he's had some complications, and we've been in Auckland for the past 17 days. The doctors have said we'll likely be here for at least two more weeks. He’s currently too unwell for further surgery to fix the complications, but they were able to do an emergency intervention.
We’ve got people all over the world praying for him, and I truly believe God has already begun healing him. Just five days ago, the doctors were seriously discussing a liver transplant—but miraculously, his liver started functioning again. However, they’re still concerned. His recovery is slower than they’d like, and his blood tests are showing signs of infection.
He hasn’t been able to eat since Monday and is in a lot of pain. He still really needs prayer—please keep praying.
My husband and I are friends too Willem and Juanita
