Hi, my name is Will & I'm a 14y old, NZ ski racer that wants to represent NZ in the U16 Trofeo Topolino, Italy Ski Race Series.
Auckland
Topolino is the most important, biggest & most competitive international ski race event for the U16 age division, and is where the best young athletes of the entire world compete against each other.
As there is no infrastructure in New Zealand giving a pathway for serious ski racers or help getting them to international competitions, I have to create my own goals and a way to achieve them.
Unfortunately it is hugely expensive (but an absolute necessity if I am to continue advancing) to be exposed to and be competitive at world standard competitions.
To “achieve” I need to fundraise. I have started this page for those that have an interest in taking a small gamble on my determination to get on the world stage. I won’t disappoint you but I am not relying on achieving my budget through this alone. I have also started a business making and selling my own design, high quality hoodies. My first samples arrive soon and marketing online starts.
The money raised will go towards, coaching, travel, budget accommodation, food & insurance. I have provided a breakdown of these costs.
Budget:
Travel: Will: Ak – Zurich $3,300 return
Will and Coach: Zurich – Topolino $1,200 return
Obersaxen boarding house accommodation, food, coaching 10 weeks $22,000 ($2,200/week)
Backpackers accommodation Topolino 6 nights (Will & Coach) $600
Food allowance Topolino (Will & Coach) $600
Ski Race Insurance $800
Overweight allowance for entire trip (2 Bags) $1,000
Passes $850
TOTAL: $30,350
To be competitive at the Topolino event I will train this NZ winter under Coach Grant Stockman, then in December leave for 10 weeks training in Obersaxen, Switzerland at Grant Stockman’s camp before moving down to Folgaria, Italy with Grant the week of the race event.
This race is a key component in the pathway to achieving my goal of successfully representing New Zealand at a Winter Olympics. Other key components are: dedication; hard work; focus; ability; and funding. Please help me with the funding and I will do the rest. We can do this, I promise! THANK YOU.
