Fundraising money for the Highbury Whanau centre & Youthline Palmerston North through a 12 hour "Swimathon".
Manawatu / Whanganui
On the 1st of February Myself (Ailish Thompson) and Abbey Mahon will be swimming 7am-7pm at the Lido Aquatic Centre 25m pool, to raise funds for the Highbury Whanau Centre & Youthline Palmerston North. Our aim is to complete 2000 lengths in that 12 hours. Obviously we can't do this alone, so please come down to support and jump in to swim a few lengths if you can!
Highbury Whanau Centre is an organisation in Palmerston North, whose mission is to "Promote and Provide opportunities for whanau of all cultures with a particular emphasis on Tamariki and Rangatahi." They offer a range of services including After school programmes, Holiday Programs, Rugby League club, Te Reo Maori class & Alternative Education. They also have a Youth worker & Psychologist Mentor on board.
Youthline is a collection of organisations that work together to make sure young people are able to get the best support, when they need it. They work with young people, their families and those supporting young people. Youthline Palmerston North has existed for over thirty years in the Manawatu. There are currently over 35 volunteers working for Youthline alongside five paid staff members.
This event will also support the Adecco "Win4Youth" program, which brings Adecco Group employees, associates and clients together to share their passion for sport and to have a positive impact on the lives of young people around the world. We will log our KMs swum into the W4Y app, clocking up KMs for our global charity partner, Plan International, to improve the lives, education and employment prospects of young people around the world.
Fundraising for two local charities to provide them with money to continue doing the awesome work they are doing in the community.
ALL money raised will go directly to the Highbury Whanau Centre & Youthline Palmerston North, so they can continue doing amazing things for our community.
