Support for a family, after the passing of their father.
Whangarei, Northland
A dear friend of mine from Ghana has recently passed away, leaving Paulina (his wife) widowed and their children without a household income. I’ve had the honour of staying with this family during my visits to Ghana — they welcomed me with open arms and played a huge role in shaping the person I am today.
These funds will go directly to Paulina and my host brothers as a donation at the funeral.
I hope that it will keep them in school, so they don’t have to seek work before graduating. And give Paulina some start-up capital to launch a micro-business — or another way of getting a sustainable source of income to support her & her whānau long-term.
If you’re in a position to give, any amount will go a long way. Your support will make a real difference for a family that has shown such generosity, love, and resilience.
From the bottom of my heart — thank you.
Paulina and her family hosted me during my time in Ghana, on two separate trips volunteering. Paulina, is a proud mother and kind soul. Her family's love and support deeply shaped who I am today—they are truly like whānau to me.
A funeral donation directly to Paulina, now a widow, to support her two boys in school and provide the capital to start a micro-business
Akwaaba, Welcome to my Page 15 May 2025
The last few weeks have been an absolute whirlwind. From sitting in shock, crying my eyes out after hearing the news of my friend’s passing, to racing around like a headless chicken trying to figure out what to do next.
At my core, I know I need to be with the whānau during times like this. But I also know that, while my presence is appreciated, what they really need right now is financial support.
I can’t begin to imagine the pain of losing a father, husband, and a community staple like Ebenezer—let alone the stress of suddenly facing deep financial hardship after the loss of the family's only source of income.
This page will provide updates on my journey back to Ghana and how the funds have been allocated. Alongside sharing these updates, I’ll also be posting requests for financial support, if you’re able to contribute.
