Support kiwi women motorcyclists to carry the Women Riders World Relay baton from Waitangi to Invercargill.

Nationwide

Help us to support as many women as possible to participate in this global event!

Women Riders World Relay (WRWR) is coming to Aotearoa New Zealand in September.

What started as the brain-child of UK-based Hayley Bell - to attempt a relay around the world led by women on motorbikes - has now fledged into a global movement since she first shared her idea on social media in August, late last year. We are raising the profile of women in recreational motorsports and advocating for businesses to meet our needs.

WRWR Aotearoa New Zealand has a small group of passionate women preparing for our legs from Waitangi on Saturday 7th September and arriving in Invercargill on Tuesday 10th September; four intensive days of riding!

The baton has already been carried by hundreds of women through more than 30 countries.

We need your help to cover our costs including:

1)supporting events at our stops down the length of the country

2) media and promotional materials

3) safety vests and communications gear for our key riding positions

4) contributing towards expenses of the baton guardians

Registered event participants (baton guardians) will largely be responsible for their own costs, but we hope to be able to keep these costs as low as possible by organising shared meals and accommodation.

Countdown: FIVE weeks to go!  3 August 2019

Women Riders World Relay is just five weeks away! A group of 22 passionate women have been working behind the scenes in their spare time to bring the baton to Aotearoa NZ. We are incredibly excited to ride 1800km with a group of hundreds of other equally passionate women and supporters. Some of us are new to riding. Others have been riding most of our lives. Some have overcome huge hurdles to get on or back on our bikes. Our stories are unique and varied. It’s going to be amazing!

We still need your help. We have raised over $1100 through givealittle and we have a fantastic group of sponsors who are helping with support vehicles, safety gear, discounts, prizes for our participants, as well as promotion. We have been overwhelmed with the response! Thank you!

But we still have hidden administrative costs that add up. Fees on eventbrite for our event tickets, hire of AV equipment, printing costs, and a small subsidy for our events to make sure they are accessible to all riders.

Many of our organising group have agreed to bear some costs personally - that’s a big commitment.

We are close to making sure we are covered, but we are not quite there...

If you have already given - thank you! If you can manage to contribute a small amount - every dollar adds up. That’s all it takes!

See you on the ride... 🏍

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
