Urgent Vet bill breaks the bank for retiree in Feilding

Manawatu / Whanganui

On Christmas eve morning my retiree mother and father were heartbroken and shocked to find their young Billee semi conscious and bleeding in a bush on their quiet Feilding Street. He was rushed to the vet who confirmed he had been hit by a car. He needed oxygen to help him breathe and stabilise before they could figure out whether he would make it. Billee had fluid on the lungs that needed draining twice and a dislocated jaw but had somehow, incredibly escaped any other major injuries. He was able to return home on boxing day and although a little slow and tired he is recovering so well. My mom and dad had a terribly lonely and stressful christmas alone wondering if he would survive and the salt in the wound was being told they couldn't have their baby back until their bill was paid in full. My parents savings accounts are now both empty, Dad's christmas bonus that they were to live off of during his works christmas closure and money he received as christmas gifts also gone meaning things are currently very tight for them. Any animal lover knows how much an unexpected bill like this can set you back so I was just hoping we might be able to recoup some of the cost of Billee's treatment and take a little stress away from my parents since I couldn't be there for them at christmas.

Sincere thanks   31 January 2024

Just wanting to extend thanks to those of you that donated and helped my parents out. A month down the line Billee is amazingly very much back to his usual playful, mischievous self although he has been rather clingy at night times and now practically shares my mother's pillow haha. Thanks again for everyone's care, let's hope Billee stays out of trouble for his remaining years xxx
