Yoda and the Henry family would be grateful for any contributions that could cover some of the Vet bills after he was attacked by a dog.
Nelson / Tasman
On the evening of march 24th, Yoda our dearly loved doggy/family member was mauled by a larger dog on our nearby beach. Steve and I got him to emergency vet within an hour where he went into emergency surgery for 2 hours with collapsed lung and serious internal trauma that ripped away all the muscle off his chest. He was in vet hospital for a week with a dedicated team managing him day and night. He has surprised them all by his resilience and luckily his fitness has been beneficial for healing. We got him home today but he has a long journey of healing and returning to maybe a semblance of his old self. He is on many drugs and has 3 large wounds around his back and chest. There will be many vet visits yet. Yoda has been psychologicaly affected by this event. We are hoping he will get back to the beach one day. Yoda and his family would be grateful for any support to contribute to vet costs. Any excess donation will be given to The Vets Richmond and Motueka to help other families service their vet bills.
The donations will contribute to the large vet bills and any excess donated to The Vets Richmond/Motueka. The owner of the other dog has so far not offered to pay these costs.
Yoda improving 10 April 2021
Thank you all for your support to date. Yoda is continuing to improve, he is still on medication-antibiotics and pain relief. He has started to do a little walking now around the home and just outside. We feel now he will survive but will not get over the trauma easily. He has not seen any other dogs yet and that will possibly be a big step. But for an elderly gentledog he is amazing us. Its amazing what love can heal.
